Every two years, the Oregon legislature must balance the state budget. This year, our legislators face a daunting task, with a down economy requiring potentially massive cuts to state services. Could you balance the state budget? Now is your chance to find out! Using materials based on the Oregon budget, participants will work through a series of options that help reduce the gap between spending and revenue, and can decide if they want to take a conservative or liberal approach to handling the budget. This program offers a hands-on demonstration of the tough choices necessary to keep Oregon's state budget fiscally sound.
