Changing Government, Changing Lives
The Oregon Department of Human Services (DHS) works to help Oregon’s most vulnerable people and families. Its responsibilities include assisting low-income families, providing mental health and youth counseling and aiding seniors and people with disabilities. DHS recently received an infusion of state and federal funds to help meet the greatly increased demand for important health and human services.
On July 10, Dr. Bruce Goldberg, director of DHS, will discuss the agency’s drive to provide help in a more effective manner and its attempts to ensure that Oregonians get the best value for their public dollar. He will outline how these efforts are impacting services and what these changes — paired with a significant budget increase — mean for Oregon’s most vulnerable citizens.
Bruce Goldberg M.D. has been Director of the Oregon Department of Human Services since November 2005. He previously served as head of the Office for Oregon Health Policy and Research.
