Lents Neighborhood Tour: Economic Development Successes and Challenges

This walking tour and discussion will explore economic development in the historic Lents neighborhood. This long-neglected area is seeing signs of renewed commercial and community activity, including the creation of an Urban Renewal Area and designation as a Town Center in the Metro 2040 plan. We will visit with several small business owners to learn how and why they chose to do business in Lents and the challenges they face, and discuss what can be done to encourage economic development in similar neighborhoods throughout the region, which will be a key component of Oregon's overall economic recovery. The tour will likely end with some time to socialize at a neighborhood coffee house.
