About the Program

Portland’s first City Administrator, Michael Jordan, who retired at the end of last year, joins us to discuss his time in the top administrative management role in Portland city government.

Starting in July 2024, he led major aspects of the transition from the prior form of government to its new structure under the recent changes to the City charter, all while overseeing the day-to-day operations of all City bureaus, managing an $8.6 billion budget and 6,800 public servants. 

In a conversation moderated by Willamette Week reporter Sophie Peel, Jordan will share his reflections on the transition’s progress: Is the new government ready to deliver for Portlanders?
