About the Event

Are you looking for your civic home in Portland? Come grab a drink, learn something new, and connect with a network of young leaders engaged in local issues.

City Club’s New Leaders Council (NLC) invites anyone interested in getting more involved in civic life—and making friends along the way—to join its monthly happy hour geared toward those in their 20s to 40s. Whether you’re a seasoned activist, advocate, or organizer, or someone looking to get involved for the first time, these gatherings offer opportunities to hear different perspectives, connect with peers, and learn about the many ways people are engaging in civic life, from policy advocacy to community-based work.

Walking into a room full of strangers can feel daunting, so NLC events combine informal mingling with a facilitated conversation, Q&A, or presentation to help attendees break the ice with folks they haven’t met yet. They are part program, part social, and all fun.

This month’s program is a conversation on how to strengthen Portland’s economy. Guest leader Aditya Gadkari of ECOnorthwest will share key findings from the annual State of the Economy report to help frame the conversation. If you’re a local business owner, entrepreneur, worker, or job seeker, you’re especially encouraged to attend and share your firsthand experiences.
