City Club is a member-led organization, and one of the most valuable benefits of membership is the opportunity to shape our governance. Unlike many other nonprofit organizations with self-perpetuating boards, City Club has a voting membership that elects the Board of Governors. Members have the opportunity to nominate themselves or fellow members for board positions and to participate in board elections. This active engagement ensures that our board reflects the interests and values of our membership.
If your membership has lapsed or if you’ve never been a member, now is the perfect time to join or renew your membership and take advantage of this opportunity to shape the future of our organization.
Here’s how you can get involved:

After a month of outreach, application reviews, and interviews, the Nominating Committee has announced its candidates for the June election. Candidates new to the board are in bold. Additional Candidate Information
For detailed information about candidates who are already on the Board, please visit our Board of Governors page. Below, you’ll find information about candidates new to the Board.
2. Nominate Yourself or a Fellow Member
While the deadline to express interest to the Nominating Committee has passed, there’s still time for members to self-nominate by petition. If you’re interested in running for the board, you can nominate yourself for any open position, regardless of whether the nominee is already on the board.
Before you decide to run, please consider which position you are interested in and ensure you can commit to the term length associated with that position. The position lengths are indicated above. Officer positions (President-Elect, Secretary, and Treasurer) have a term of one year.
The petition should indicate your name and the position you are running for, and must be signed by ten City Club members. Petitions must be submitted in writing to verify the signatures. A PDF scan is acceptable. Submit them by postal mail to 221 NW 2nd Avenue, #213, Portland, OR 97209, or by email to info@pdxcityclub.org. The deadline for submission is May 30th.
3. Attend the Annual Membership Meeting
Join us for the Annual Membership Meeting on Thursday, June 13th at the Center for Philanthropy (221 NW 2nd Ave., #300, Portland). Doors will open at 5:00 pm, with the event starting at 6:00 pm. We aim to stream the proceedings live. Don’t miss this opportunity to engage with your fellow members and learn more about the future of our organization! The meeting is open to non-members interested in learning more about City Club.
4. Vote in the Election
In order to vote, you must be a member in good standing as of May 30th. Voting will take place online in the two days following the Annual Meeting, June 14th and June 15th. Please ensure your membership is active, as only current members will receive a ballot by email.
