This winter, City Club of Portland hosted a four-program series named “Meet Your New City Councilors!” The series was free and open to the public.
Each program was held in person at a venue within each district, featuring a moderated conversation and Q&A with District Councilors, followed by time for community members to connect with their neighbors and representatives.
For those who couldn’t attend in person, the conversation portion of each program was livestreamed and recorded for later viewing.
All conversations were moderated by Sophie Peel, City Hall and neighborhoods reporter for Willamette Week.
Councilors shared what they love about their district, what makes it unique, and the hidden gems worth visiting. They discussed priority issues specific to their district, as well as citywide topics like downtown revitalization, partnerships with Multnomah County, and the future of Portland.

Thank you to our season sponsor, AARP Oregon, and to our series sponsor, The Standard, for their generous support. Thanks also to our community partners: KGW News, XRAY.fm, Central Northeast Neighbors, Northeast Coalition of Neighborhoods, SE Uplift, and District 4 Coalition; for helping us reach new audiences with this important conversation.
City Club of Portland relies on organizational sponsors to help underwrite the cost of bringing our programming to our members and the public. As a nonpartisan, impartial forum for civic dialogue, City Club accepts sponsorships from a wide spectrum of organizations. Our policies prevent sponsors from influencing the content of our programming. We are deeply grateful to all who support our events and research.
